Nothing but problems with this company since they filed my divorce for me in October 2023.I found out I am divorced as of January 05,2024 on case net and still have not received a copy of my divorce papers or acknowledgment from them saying my case is over like they told me they would .

I finally just sat there in silence, feeling like a high school freshman called down to the principal's office. I was ready to bolt, frankly. But it was unnecessary, as he abruptly told me what he could/would do and that he needed a $2000.00 retainer. He seemed to assume I'd hire him. Uh, no. First, I didn't have two grand to fork over. I told him that. It was awkward, and no alternatives were offered - which was okay. It's a business, after all. Attorneys in private practice don't have to help anyone. However, even if I'd had $5000 in my pocket no way I would have hired this man. The situation for which I need a lawyer scares the daylights out of me. I don't need a lawyer to hold my hand - but then again, I don't need a paternalistic, impatient, cold, semi-rude one, either. It's all good, though: I have an attorney! She's wonderful. Called on her way to St. Louis and we chatted for 3 HOURS about all kinds of stuff - not only my case. No charge, just getting to know each other. * WHEW! * Feels like I dodged a bullet at Piatchek! My case was seemingly very simple, so maybe it wasn't getting full attention, but I repeatedly had to email people and ask for updates and beg for information about my case. Several times my case seemed to change hands at the paralegal level leading to confusion. Of course all of these emails and phone calls were billable hours. I eventually subscribed to my case on CaseNet to get updates faster. At one point I had to email them to get information because the courts had ordered mediation and no one told me anything until I emailed them the day before the appointment. I've even used my "dealing with a difficult student and parents and don't want them to know I'm at my wit's end" voice in email form. And nothing. I'm now at the point where I'm publicly outing you as a substandard law firm. I've never done that. With anyone or any business. Ever. You're it. I'm the type of person who will eat a slice of chocolate cake I didn't order just to avoid making the waiter feel bad. And I'm allergic to chocolate. So, yeah, you're in territory I've never even seen before. I've apologized to chairs that I didn't even bump into. But here we are. Me publicly calling you out for being bad at your jobs. Here's the honest truth of the situation (let the light in and clean out all the disease as they say): Six months ago, I entered into an agreement to purchase a house. This happens a thousand times a day. It's one of the most standard large financial agreements we enter into these days. I agreed, in good faith, to purchase a house. In September. Of 2020. That was six months ago. Closings (I'm now an expert on them even though I haven't done one yet) usually take 45 days. We're a bit past that. A week before the close, we couldn't. Because of the clients of the aforementioned law firm. Law firm. I use that term so lightly here. We've gotten so little from them that I can't even paraphrase it. It's been "We'll lift the lis pendens at the close." I feel like Harry in book 7. That's all you got for me, Dumbledore? I open at the close? What if there's never a close? Six months and we've got a sentence. And not even a good one. It was a bad sentence. I would know. I've written many myself. One attorney's office is holding up the sale of this house over one piece of paper. A single document. That all parties agree exists. That's where we're at. And they won't send us an email or return our calls. I feel like a jilted ex. What do I want? To buy this house. That's it. That's all I want. I don't want compensation, retribution, or relocation. I want to buy the house that I originally agreed to buy six months ago. For the same terms. That's it. All we need is a piece of paper from this law firm. I've tried everything else. I even fired a realtor loudly and with language I usually reserve for my dog or for Tim Tebow hoping that his stonewalling would lead to movement. It helped. But we're dealing with many people who don't like to do their jobs, and, sadly, a whole bunch of other people who are doing wonderful jobs and getting nothing for it (looking at you, Veterans First in San Diego and Larany at Keller Williams). I just want to buy the house. I want to pay a mortgage. I want to paint the walls. I want the seller, a saint of a man who deserves better than me and certainly better than his relatives, to get paid and for you, Piatcheck Law Firm and rude Associates, to get paid, too. Begrudgingly, of course. But paid is paid. Give the title company the piece of paper. That's it. Just do that. And we'll be done. No more phone calls and emails and rants on Facebook. I'll leave you a five-star review. I'll send you a bouquet of flowers. I'll tutor your children. I'll find the head of the Harvard English department and beg him to tutor your children, I'll delete this lone negative review I've ever given of any company ever, I'll even root for the Chiefs or the Jayhawks. This was my experience with one lawyer/paralegal team in his firm, and is not meant to be a reflection on everyone at the facility. I've added notes throughout the review to explain. Joe contacted me personally and tried to resolve my issue, sadly we couldn't come to an agreement, but I feel it's only fair to add. I have taken some time to collect my thoughts before leaving this review. I am not one to be vindictive or vengeful, but I feel like I owe it to other people in my position to tell my experience. I had to find a lawyer quickly and affordably, went to a few places, found the Piatchek Law Firm, talked to its paralegal Dominick, paid the retainer, and set up a payment plan. Dominick was very polite, but I don’t think he knew fully what was going throughout my case. I only met my lawyer, Scott, once at my Case Management Hearing and had only a few minutes before the hearing to brief him on my case.  Later at my Temporary Custody Hearing, a gentleman met me in the lobby while I was looking for the court room. He informed me that he would be filling in for Scott that day. I was not prepared to brief a third person on everything to do with my case in the few minutes we had. I was not prepared for the things that happened at the Temporary Custody Hearing like my ex-husband’s lawyer reading statements I had said in therapy over a year before. I was completely embarrassed and disheartened by the experience. (I understand it was a complicated case, I have a history of mental illness and there is a history of substance abuse on both sides. The point is I was not prepared. Dominick was very upbeat, like I really had a final chance. No one warned me when they subpoenaed my health records that they would be reading therapy sessions from OVER a year before, how stressful it would be watching my ex lie to the judge, there was limited follow up. I understand now that the problem was probably the paralegal, but that doesn't change the outcome.) I text Dominick on Feb 12th asking about a test result, and got no response. I called the office once to talk to Dominick and was told I would get a call back. I never did. Finally, I emailed Dominick on the Feb 21st pleading for an update because the test results had come back and my ex was trying to extort me with them. Dominick told me he had been experiencing health issues and had been out of the office. No one at Piatchek had told me. (I understand now that the test is not left up to my lawyer, it is up to the Judge) I feel like the communication was awful. I was never prepared for anything. I didn’t know what to expect. The evidence I collected was not asked for or used apart from the police report that I filed. I asked for a specific test to be administered and was given a different one against my wishes. It was my breaking point. I felt I had no choice but to settle. I did not see it getting any better. (The communication was awful, it is my understanding that the paralegal was largely at fault for this. I understand it was my choice to settle, I was just explaining why I made the decision) I have lost faith in the justice system due to my experience. I don’t know if the mismanagement of my representation was purposeful. I feel it stemmed mostly from poor communication. I understand that my payment plan wasn't that great, but I paid it, and I will continue to pay it even though I was disgusted with the services. I just wish I didnt feel like part of the reason things went the way they did was partially because of the amount I was able to pay a month. That might just be my own insecurity. (Definitely my own insecurity, i understand other clients have had great outcomes on a similar payment plan.) I'm removing the section where I advise people to steer clear of the law firm completely. I can not speak with experience about other law teams within the firm. This was solely my experience with the team mentioned within the review. Less

The absolute worst attorney I have ever dealt with. They do not return phone calls or email you back so then you end up getting charged more for having to email back to get any information. I would recommend this law firm to no one. Do yourself and find an attorney who will actually fight for you.

In the beginning, Mr. Taylor was very fired up and we felt like he was best for our case, but within a month, our retainment fees were gone, from what we later discovered was mostly his paralegal sending e-mails, and his drive went down. The previous following months also showed most of our fees were accrued with the paralegal responding to e-mails with no actual work on Mr. Taylor's part. Mr. Taylor made a lot of promises to us on our case, claiming he would file motions and had his paralegals draft them up. Nothing was ever filed but we were still charged the fees for his paralegal to write them up. Mr. Taylor never showed up in person for important meetings and would only participate by phone, where he would often make promises to file motions but never did. Mr. Taylor often missed court dates too and wouldn't send anyone to represent us in his absence. Since we have had new legal representation, they have made more headway in three months versus Taylor's six months and they were far less expensive and didn't charge us an entire hour to read a two-minute e-mail. I feel that we were poorly represented by Mr. Taylor and that if he would have been honest with us from the beginning that his work load was too much or that he didn't know how to handle our case, it would have saved us a lot of heartache and finances.
